Oil seeds play an important role in human and animal nutrition due to their rich oil, protein, carbohydrate, mineral and vitamin content, and are a major source of raw material for industrial sector. Oil seed crops are exceptional plants with a versatile area of use. Although there are numerous plants that contain oil within their seeds, the following plants are the primary ones that are currently used in the industry for extracting oil from their seeds; Soybean, Sunflower, Cotton (cottonseed), Canola (Rapeseed), Peanut, Sesame, Safflower, and Flax.
